Gov. Terry Branstad expressed his support for his Board of Regent nominees in letter he wrote to all 50 members of Iowa Senate, who will vote on their approval.
“There has been much recent discussion regarding the individuals I put forward to serve on the Board of Regents, and I write today to support the confirmations of Craig Lang, Robert Cramer, and Subhash Sahai and to share with you my reasoning for bringing these talented individuals forward,” he wrote.
Branstad proceeded to list qualities and accomplishments of his nominees including Regent President Lang. He said Lang helped successfully restore critical funding and developed a plan to gradually eliminate tuition set aside among other accomplishments.
Lang said he appreciated the letter and would like to continue to serve on the board. He noted that his accomplishments are shared with some of his colleagues.
“I think it wasn’t just me, it was President Pro Term [Bruce] Rastetter and myself and our encouragement to the entire board,” he said.
