A collaboration of two organizations will bring a popular comedian to the University of Iowa.
“Parks and Recreation” actor and comedian Aziz Ansari will visit the IMU as part of his new “Buried Alive” standup comedy tour on May 10. The Campus Activities Board partnered with the Englert, 221 E. Washington St., in order to bring the popular comedian to Iowa City.
The doors will open at 9 p.m., and tickets will be available for sale at noon March 4. Tickets are $25 for students and the $35 for the general public and will be available at both the Hub on the first floor of the IMU and at the Englert.
Ansari is known for his starring role as Tom Haverford in the NBC show “Parks and Recreation,” an American comedy TV series that includes such stars as Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Paul Schneider, Chris Pratt, and Adam Scott.
Haverford is a sarcastic, quirky government employee who works in the parks department of Pawnee, a small, fictional town in Indiana.
He has also been in such movies as Funny People, Get Him to the Greek, I Love You, Man, and Observe and Report.
His national “Buried Alive” tour will begin in April and will contain all new material.
