Megan Blank and Kayla Massey have been named to the 2013 Lovelace Invitational All-Tournament Softball Team after their performances in the tournament over the weekend.
Massey excelled both at the plate and on the mound in Denton, Texas, helping Iowa to a 4-1 record and the Lovelace Invitational Title. The junior finished the weekend with a 0.39 ERA in three appearances to the mound — two starts and once in relief. Massey allowed just 8 hits in 18 innings and surrendered just 1 earned run while striking out 14.
Massey also led the tournament in batting average, notching a .500 average from the plate. She tallied six hits, including 2 RBIs, 1 run scored, and her first career home run.
Blank just barely trailed her teammate with another stellar performance at the plate, hitting .400 for the tournament. The sophomore recorded 6 hits, 3 RBIs, and a home run — the game-winning long ball against Oklahoma State on Feb. 15.
