A Coralville man was arrested after allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old runaway.
Juan De La Cruz, 20, was accused Feb. 4 with harboring a runaway and third-degree sexual abuse.
Coralville police officers received information that a 14-year-old runaway was staying with De La Cruz. Officers executed a search warrant and located the female runaway. The runaway was reported missing on Jan. 23 from Detroit, the police complaint said. When the runaway was interviewed, she informed officers that she had sexual intercourse with De La Cruz on at least five different occasions.
Harboring a runaway is an aggravated misdemeanor. Third-degree sexual abuse is a class-C felony.
