The members of the jury have yet to reach a verdict after completing their first full day of deliberations in Justin Marshall’s trial.
Marshall, 22, is accused of slaying former Broadway Condominiums owner John Versypt in October 2009.
The jury did ask a clarification question regarding the instructions, but 6th District Judge Sean McPartland simply asked the members to “carefully review them.”
Marshall’s trial has now lasted 12 days, including two for jury selection, and it was delayed another two days one for new evidence and another for bad weather.
Both sides gave their closing arguments on Wednesday. The state focused on Marshall’s allegedly changing story, and the defense contended there was a lack of physical evidence connecting Marshall to the crime.
The jury will continue deliberations today at 9 a.m. Marshall faces life in prison if he is convicted.
