The University of Iowa Department of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies is now offering scholarships to students in its third year of existence.
The scholarships will primarily be awarded to students who are marginalized because of their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or class, according to a UI press release.
Three scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 are available; applications are due Feb. 8.
The Adele Kimm Scholarship is to be awarded to an accomplished undergraduate, the Adah Johnson/Otilia Maria Fernandez Scholarship is to be awarded to a graduate student committed to issues relevant to women of color, and the Jane A. Weiss Memorial Dissertation Scholarship is to be awarded to a graduate student writing a dissertation on women’s issues, the release said.
