A Cedar Rapids man was charged Sept. 1 after an alleged drunk-driving incident.
According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office complaint, Steven Viers, 51, was charged after a deputy observed Viers driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop. The complaint said Viers was weaving in his lane, crossing the center line, and traveling at 10-15 mph below the speed limit.
The complaint said Viers had glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol, and was unable to perform some field sobriety tests. Viers refused a breath test, the complaint said. Viers has numerous OWI charges, and is barred from driving through 2018, according to the complaint.
Viers is charged with third-offense OWI, a Class-D felony, and habitual driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor.
