The state Board of Regents approved the creation of a search committee for the recently vacated position of University of Northern Iowa President Ben Allen at its telephonic meeting Monday.

According to a regents’ release, officials are requesting nominees to fill the three citizen slots. Nominations are due on Sept. 5 and the Board will decide the committee at its next meeting in Ames.

The nominations should be sent to Marcia Brunson, the policy and operations officer by email, the release said.
