You shouldn’t need an excuse to play this week’s tracks from the past, but because Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, you should be bumping Marvin Gaye’s 12th album, Let’s Get It On, with the volume at 11.
As one of the most sexually charged albums ever, Let’s Get It On has provided boom-boom tunes to couples for almost four decades.
The album is ranked 165 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the best albums of all time. It earned four of four stars from the Chicago Tribune and five of five stars from Q Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Virgin Encyclopedia.
Highlights from the album include the title track and most well-known cut, "Let’s Get It On." But tunes worth checking out are the high-tempo "Come Get to This" and the most sexual song on the album, "You Sure Love to Ball."
Not all of us have that special someone to share a romantic evening with, but not to worry, there will be plenty of lonelies looking for love downtown on Tuesday. And no matter with whom you’re spending your Valentine’s Night, get Gaye.
