Mike and Joe is a Chicago-based cover band specializing in popular alternative tunes.

The group will perform at the Blue Moose Tap House, 211 Iowa Ave., at 9 p.m. Friday; admission is $5.

Formed more than 10 years ago at Indiana University, the group comprises four members, despite what the name may imply.

The four have taken their show throughout Illinois and Indiana, playing at well-known establishments such as the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville and Durty Nellie’s in Palatine, Ill. This weekend will mark the group’s first trip to Iowa.

Mike and Joe cover a variety of popular alternative-rock groups, including Foster the People, Mumford and Sons, and MGMT.

"We try to nail the cover down to the last detail," said singer and guitarist Mike Notaro. "We want people to feel like they went to numerous different rock concerts all in one night."
