The Iowa football team named its 2011 Hawkeye Leadership Group on April 22. The 14 players were selected by their teammates; they will help formulate policies and enter into team decision-making matters regarding the upcoming season.
The group’s seniors include Broderick Binns, Mike Daniels, Marvin McNutt, and Tyler Nielsen. Greg Castillo, James Ferentz, and Riley Reiff were the juniors selected, and the sophomores are Marcus Coker, Casey Kreiter, James Morris, and Brett Van Sloten. Finally, the group’s lone freshman (redshirt) is Brandon Scherff.
"The players elected to the leadership group for next fall are a great representation of each class," head coach Kirk Ferentz said. "The voting by the squad, as has always been the case, provides a strong group of players to represent the entire team. I have every confidence that this group will work well with the members of the coaching staff in shaping policies and making decisions regarding team policies, goals, and other things that affect players’ experiences. The input provided by this group is very important to all of us involved with Iowa football."
