Mike Stanley will perform standup comedy at 10 p.m. today at Public Space One, 129 E. Washington St. Admission is free. The UI Campus Activities Board will host the event.
Originally from the metro Detroit area and now a resident of Chicago, Stanley has become a crowd favorite in comedy clubs and college campuses around the country with his high energy and raw delivery. He takes simple daily activities and turns them into an act that is sure to please all audiences. He has a charismatic stage presence and a keen sense of wit in all of his acts.
In 2005, Stanley won the “Last Comic Still Standing” competition in New York and the Joey’s Comedy Club Challenge, and he was in the top three for Michigan’s Up and Comers. In 2008, he was a semifinalist in the Boston Comedy Festival Competition and was voted Reader’s Choice in the “Best Chicago Stand Up Comedian” in the Chicago Reader.
