A proposed revision to Iowa City’s no-smoking policy may include a 24-hour smoking ban for the Pedestrian Mall, Iowa City city councilors said at a Monday work session.

After Iowa City planning director Jeff Davidson and Iowa City Police Chief Sam Hargadine brought up the issue, councilors agreed it would be appropriate to place a smoking ban on the Pedestrian Mall and prohibit smoking within 10 feet of outdoor cafés.
