City High Principal Mark Hanson will resign once his one-year contract is fulfilled on June 30, he said Sunday.
Hanson said he sent an e-mail to his staff early on Feb. 13, stating he would not return for the 2010-11 academic year.
“I’m just off to explore other opportunities,” he said.
Hanson has been principal at City High since 2001. Prior to that, he served as principal at Burlington High for four years.
At the June close of the academic year, both Hanson and Superintendent Lane Plugge will resign from the district. The School Board will fill both positions.
The board has not yet accepted or refused the resignation. The next board meeting is Feb. 23.
