Urban areas in Johnson County, including Iowa City, are now closer to being more bike friendly.
The Johnson County Board of Supervisors passed its Master Bike Plan on Thursday. The plan is a comprehensive “roadmap” for further bike accessibility and education in towns across Johnson County.
“It provides is a roadmap for all of the [Johnson County] communities to refer to when they intend to make their communites more bike friendly,” said Kristopher Ackerson, an assistant transportation planner of the Johnson County Council of Governments.
The plan has yet to pass in the towns of Tiffin, University Heights, North Liberty, and Coralville, but Ackerson is confident it will be passed.
