The Johnson County Board of Supervisors agreed on a resolution which urges “immediate passage of comprehensive federal health-care reform legislation” on Thursday.
Supervisor Sally Stutsman said this shows support for urging any health-care reform, not a specific policy.
The supervisors also voted to raise the bottom wage of township trustees and clerks. Supervisor Pat Harney said this raises their earnings from $9 per hour to $12.
VJ Engineering gave a report to the board on the condition of the Sutliff Bridge, outlining what options it would consider to restore it. The county will hold public meetings in the future to collect residents’ viewpoint on the bridge’s future.
But Stutsman said that before the supervisors hold any meetings, they want to ensure that the bridge would utilize Federal Emergency Management Agency funding if it is restored.
