The UI Student Government legislative meetings will now be available for people to view online via video streaming. The purpose of the legislative video posts are to allow constituents to see what UISG senators are discussing and voting on.
The video is for the benefit of those interested in the UISG agenda but who can’t attend the meetings, said UISG Vice President JD Moran. The video format allows students to opt out of the long meetings but still view topics of interest.
“The video gives constituents an opportunity to watch at their own leisure and to fast-forward and rewind through parts that don’t appeal to them,” Moran said.
UISG senators are only allowed to miss one legislative meeting, and legislative video doesn’t give them an excuse to miss a meeting, he said.
“We hope that the idea of being online for all of the constituents to see will encourage members to speak up,” Moran said.
