Reality TV newcomer Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein’s alleged suicide and a TLC family announcing another child — it’s been an interesting week.
Death of a Disc Jockey
Goldstein’s Aug. 8 alleged suicide is yet another in the long string of celebrity deaths as of late. The DJ (known to have undergone a personal battle with Ecstasy, crack cocaine, and other drugs), was on the verge of premièring “Gone Too Far,” an intervention show for drug users airing on MTV in October.
Similar to Dr. Drew’s show (though without the D-list celebs), this take on self-help involves Goldstein and users’ families working with addicts to help them overcome drug use. MTV hasn’t yet announced if the show will début on the scheduled date, or even if it will air at all.
Because of the nature of DJ AM’s death (a crack pipe and prescription drugs were found in his apartment), I wonder if “Gone Too Far” may end up being pulled — the creep factor would be seriously high.
More babies, more drama
There are some shows that are just too hard for even a reality-loving whore like me to watch. TLC’s hit series “18 Kids and Counting,” which chronicles the life of the Duggar family (and Mrs. Duggar’s overactive uterus), falls into this category.
Jim Bob (yes, you read his name correctly) and Michelle Duggar just announced they were onto baby No. 19. Lady, please, give your vagina a rest, this is getting a little out of hand — no one needs that many children unless you’re trying to populate small-town Iowa.
