Sure, some of these couples have legitimate reasons to go their separate ways. When Chris Brown left Rhianna with a few bruises, she had the nation on her side when she decided to leave him — then the nation against her when she gave him another shot.

But let’s focus on Star, People, and InTouch’s most delectable breakup this season: Jon & Kate Plus Hate.

It’s splattered all over websites and check-out counters: Jon’s mistress sitting next to him in the ubiquitous car photo. Widespread rumors that Kate and her bodyguard are doing the dirty behind closed doors.

Jon and Kate’s divorce — completed on June 22 — leaves the most causalities of any of the more well-known separations this year, more than the clutter of 98 Degrees fans whose hearts will break upon learning Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo called it quits. They’re leaving the eight Petri dish babies the nation watched grow up caught up in the whirlwind that is divorce papers.

Common rumors include the way Kate treats the clan when the cameras aren’t rolling — she barks and spanks and is in general a nasty, nasty woman. Jon is right to get himself out of the situation.

Apparently, she had papers filed before the show started that Jon signed to say he’d fake a happy household while on the show. Papers that weren’t needed after Kate went to the courthouse herself.

This couple is putting Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson to shame (who also are currently on the outs, but an update could be issued tomorrow), and the publicity they’re getting would be enough to make Paris Hilton and her flavor of the week a jealous mess.
