The quinceañera is the traditional coming of age ceremony that many girls look forward to; the dress, the ceremony, the family and friends, and the memories. Even in the US, the quinceañera is still a very large part of the Mexican family culture. Attracted to the US because of the job opportunities, they left behind their families and dreams in Mexico at the age of 20. As young adults in a new country they were never afraid to take risks and could only think of everything they had to gain. Initially the plan was to work within the United States for a few yeas or until they could save up enough money to continue their dreams in Mexico.
