The Iowa Hawkeyes took first place overall at the 32nd annual Hawkeye Invitational at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa on Tuesday.
Round one took place Monday morning, ending with the Hawkeyes following behind Southern Illinois in second place with a total of one under par. Southern Illinois had a total of nine under par and Iowa had a total of four under par. Following behind Southern Illinois and Iowa was Drake, sitting at even par.
After round two, sophomore Ryan Shellberg came in first place individually, with an overall score of 10 under par. This win marks Iowa’s 18th championship in tournament history.
Finkbine Golf Course, the home of Iowa men’s and women’s golf, is currently undergoing major renovations, which is why the tournament was moved to Blue Top Ridge.
Up next, the Iowa men’s golf team will head to North Plains, Oregon, on May 1-3 for the Big Ten Championships.
