The Iowa women’s basketball team added its second transfer portal player in guard Amari Whiting. On3 first reported the news on Wednesday afternoon, and Whiting confirmed the announcement through her social media.
Whiting hails from Burley, Idaho, and will represent a third school in four seasons. She spent two years at BYU before transferring to Oklahoma State prior to last season. Whiting started all 97 games she played in during her collegiate career, averaging 31 minutes per game.
Last season with the Cowgirls, she averaged 9.6 points and a career-high 5.9 rebounds per game, ranking sixth and second on the team in those categories, respectively. Whiting also recorded career-highs in field goal percentage (42.5) and free throw percentage (71.2). Oklahoma State went 24-10 on the season, winning in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to UCLA.
In her first two seasons with the Cougars, Whiting averaged 10.6, then 10.3 points per game.
Whiting joins former Georgia guard Dani Carnegie as Iowa’s transfer portal additions this offseason.
Whiting has one year of eligibility remaining. The transfer portal window closes on April 20.
