Iowa men’s basketball forward Alvaro Folgueiras will enter the NCAA transfer portal, as first reported by Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress on X on Friday, April 10.
Folgueiras joined the Hawkeyes prior to the 2025-2026 season, after spending two seasons at Robert Morris. Folgueiras averaged 8.4 points per game with Iowa, and was a key contributor to its Elite Eight run in the NCAA Tournament.
The Málaga, Spain, native knocked down the game-winning three-pointer against No. 1 seed Florida to advance to the Sweet 16. Folgueiras then posted a 16-point effort on 6-of-7 shooting against No. 4 seed Nebraska to advance to the Elite Eight.
Folgueiras shot 50 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three in his lone season with the Hawkeyes and averaged 3.6 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game.
Folgueiras logged a season-high 20 points in a 74-57 win over Ohio State on Feb. 25, and logged double-digit points in 16 out of 37 games. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
