The Iowa Hawkeyes faced the No. 16 Washington Huskies in tough loss 7-16 to start the series at Bob Pearl Field on Friday, March 27, 2026.
The game started in the Hawks favor holding Washington to no runs and having three of their own, including a surprise steal to home by Iowa third basemen Avery Jackson. This lead was quickly lost when the Huskies had two home runs in their third inning to pull a lead of 4-3 from catcher Jadyn Glab and second baseman Jade Bubke.
What felt like the start of a shoot out was continued when Iowa designated player Naiyln Marshall hit her own home run to bring the game to 4-4. The response from the huskies was seven runs to bring a 11-4 lead that the Hawks never came back from. To further their dominance the Huskies continued their barrage with two more home runs from left fielder Ava Carroll and third baseman Giselle Alvarez to end any hope for Iowa.
