15,340 fans showed up to Pinnacle Bank Arena to see the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the No.9 Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, NE, on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The Cornhuskers defeated the Hawkeyes 84-75 in overtime.
The Hawkeyes came into Lincoln fresh off their close loss agains No.3 Michigan hoping to bounce back and steal their second win against the top-ten Cornhuskers. Iowa would come out hot in a tight first half filled with turnovers by both teams. The second half started all Nebraska, but the Hawks came back from down double digits to force overtime. The Cornhuskers would go on a run in overtime wit several threes, and solid defense to hold off the Hawkeyes.
For the Hawkeyes, Kael Combs stood out as the driving scorer down the stretch, scoring 18, on 7-14 shooting. Cooper Koch matched his points with 18 of his own, and Bennet Stirtz put up 11 on 4-10 shooting.

For Nebraska, Pryce Sandfort put up 15 points and 7 rebounds against his former team. Other standout Cornhuskers were Cale Jacobsen, Sam Hoiberg, and Reink Mast with 15, 15, and 14 points respectively.
With the win, Nebraska moves to 26-5, while the Hawkeyes record now sits at 20-11. Both teams will look forward to the Big 10 Championships at the United Center in Chicago, IL. The Hawkeyes start the tournament on Wednesday, March 11, what the Cornhuskers on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
