Hannah Stuelke will not play Sunday afternoon against Wisconsin, per a team release. The senior forward is out with an upper-body injury and will be sidelined for the second time this season. Stuelke is considered “day-to-day” and is hopeful to play in the Big Ten Tournament.
Stuelke previously sat out Iowa’s game against Purdue on Feb. 19, also with an upper-body injury. She started the Hawkeyes’ next three games against Nebraska, Michigan, and Illinois, averaging 12.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. The forward briefly left early in the first quarter against the Illini with what appeared to be a right arm injury. Stuelke returned to the game and finished with 18 points in 31 minutes. After the contest, head coach Jan Jensen said she Stuelke’s injury isn’t “season-altering.”
Without Stuelke, Iowa will likely turn to first-year Journey Houston, who started in her stead against the Boilermakers. Houston scored 16 points in that matchup and averages 5.9 points and five rebounds per game.
For the season, Stuelke is averaging 13.9 points and a career-best 8.7 rebounds per game across 27 contests, all starts.
Iowa and Wisconsin square off at 2 p.m. on Big Ten Plus to close out the regular season. Sitting with a 14-3 record in conference play, the Hawkeyes are guaranteed either the No. 2 or 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will play on Friday, March 6, in Indianapolis. Iowa has won four of the last seven Big Ten Tournament titles, including three consecutive from 2022 to 2024.
