With the Olympics coming to a close on Feb. 22 , it’s time to acknowledge the more fashionable side of the games: the swag bags the Olympians were gifted. The bags contained merchandise from several high-profile brands, including Nike, Skims, and even Ralph Lauren. Now that the athletes posted hauls of everything they were gifted, here’s a list of the best fashion items.
Ralph Lauren Closing Ceremony Puffer Jacket
This was one of my favorite pieces from the two weeks the athletes were in the Olympic Village. I love a good big jacket moment, and that is exactly what this puffer provided. The jacket, adorned with red, white, and blue stripes, several USA-themed patches on the chest and sleeves, and the iconic Polo Ralph Lauren logo, was the cherry on top of the rest of the Ralph Lauren USA collection. Although the jacket looked fabulous on most of the athletes, the puffer did swallow a few of them, but what fun is an outfit if it can’t become a meme? Another fun fact is that regulars like you and me can buy most of these pieces as well, with this Ralph Lauren jacket costing $1,798 on the company’s website.
Nike ACG USA Eagle Skirt
Speaking of clothing items that have gone viral, the Nike Eagle Skirt took off on social media for its ridiculous print and the versatility for athletes. The reversible skirt contains one plain white side and one side with a blue background, mountains, and eagles flying in the sky. Many of the athletes simply used the item as a skirt, flaunting swag on their TikTok accounts, while others used it as a cape. It fit into a small pouch, so athletes could carry them wherever they needed to. This skirt has been selling out, so if you’re willing to spend $145 to match the Olympians, pick it up while it’s still in stock on the Nike website.
Skims for Team USA Terry Olympic Robe
Skims released a gargantuan collection of USA-themed clothing, covering the areas other athletic companies didn’t, from undergarments to sleepwear. Of the Skims collection, the best piece was a terry cloth robe. The robe, similar to the Ralph Lauren puffer, was large enough to swallow some of the athletes and seemed to be the most comfortable piece they received. One athlete, Hahna Norman, who posted four hauls of her gear alongside Olympic fit checks every day she was in the Village, proudly wore the robe to lounge in the Olympic Village while she wasn’t competing. The robe is available on the Skims website for $148.
Nike Color Changing USA Olympic Team Dri-Fit T-shirt
Nike provided an array of pieces for the athletes to wear while training or working out in the Olympic Village. The coolest was a seemingly plain white T-shirt with a circle containing the iconic Olympic rings, an American flag, and the words “United States Olympic Team.” When the shirt gets cold, the circle border turns blue, while warmer temps change the ring to red. Although this shirt wasn’t worn by many athletes in the village and generally wasn’t talked about online, the color-changing aspect elevated the shirt above the basic tees Team USA was provided in their merchandise bags. If you want to work out in style, this shirt is available for purchase on the Nike website for $42.
