At Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday night, the No. 11 Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the No. 15 Michigan State Spartans, 75-68.
In an extremely physical game Iowa managed to hold the lead for 34:14 compared to Michigan State’s 1:27. This win being one of the best games this season, according to Iowa head coach Jan Jensen.
However, in a press conference after the game, Iowa senior forward Hannah Stuelke said, “The best is yet to come.” She has put up her best game against a ranked opponent this season with 22 points. Allison of her points were in the paint, helping this game stay firmly in the Hawkeyes favor.
Along with her Iowa sophomore center Ava Heiden put up 20 points, her 5th time putting up 20 or more point in a game this season. The moment of the game though was from Iowa sophomore guard Chit-Chat Wright, who put an end to the first quarter with an over half court shot for three.
Iowa has now risen to 16-2, and will face off against No. 12 Maryland in College Park on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 5:00 pm CST.
