The No. 14 Iowa Hawkeyes improve to 12-2 with a win over No. 20 Nebraska, 86-76, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday afternoon.
In a tight match against the Huskers, Iowa’s stars came out to play. The biggest performance coming from Iowa guard Chit-Chat Wright who scored her highest points of the season at 24, being 11-12 on FT. Along with her, Iowa forward Hannah Stuelke showed out with a double-double scoring 21 point with 10 rebounds. After a slow start to the season it appears that Stuelke has finally broken out into the top player the team expected.
“[Fans] are a part of us,” said Iowa head coach Jan Jensen after the game. “There aren’t many places like the University of Iowa,” she said when talking about how important the fans are in the close battles.
The Hawkeyes travel to Evanston, Illinois for a matchup against the Northwestern Wildcats on Monday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m CST.
