The No. 1-ranked Iowa women’s wrestling program saw a successful finish in this weekend’s action at the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, Missouri.
The Hawkeyes crowned champions at the 131, 138, and 145-pound weight classes, respectively, with a total of nine athletes placing in the top-three.
Iowa went a combined 80-20 in its matches, registering 34 technical falls in the process.
At 103 pounds, fourth-year Sterling Dias took third place, nabbing critical wins over Oklahoma State and McKendree. The Las Vegas native’s sole loss came to fellow Hawkeye and No. 4-ranked Valarie Solorio.
Solorio would go on to take second place at 103 pounds, scoring wins over Lindenwood and Avila in the process, while sixth place went to Iowa second-year Rianne Murphy.
Two Hawkeyes placed in the top three at 110 pounds, with No. 1-ranked fourth-year Ava Bayless placing third, and fourth-year Nyla Valencia, competing for the first time since the 2022-23 season due to an injury, taking second.
No. 3-ranked second-year Karlee Brooks went 6-0 to claim the title at 131, collecting wins over opponents from Colorado Mesa and Tarleton State.
The Hawaii native recorded two technical falls and a fall in her path to the crown, while third-year Emily Frost, sporting wins over William Penn and Valiant Prep, placed second.
Iowa’s second title came at 138 pounds, courtesy of fourth-year Skye Realin. After triumphs over Texas Wesleyan and Midland, Realin recorded a technical fall over Quincy to emerge victorious.
The third and final crown for the Hawkeyes came via No. 2-ranked fourth-year Reese Larramendy, with technical falls over Grand View, Hastings, Adams State, and Schreiner, followed by wins over Missouri Valley and Iowa Central to seize the title.
At 207 pounds, No. 2-ranked fifth-year Jaycee Foeller took home victories over Ottawa, Albion, and Cumberland, falling in a 2-1 decision to Simon Fraser in the finals.
The last Hawkeye to place was second-year Naomi Simon. After falls over Carl Albert, Missouri Baptist, and Friends, Simon claimed a win by 9-4 decision over McKendree to place third.

Iowa returns to Carver-Hawkeye Arena for competition on Dec. 7. Opponents Oklahoma State and Colorado Mesa will be in attendance, with the action set to start at 2:00 p.m.
