The Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks 99-70, during a basketball game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Tuesday. Iowa’s record now sits at 4-0.
Using a mix of free throws and turnovers, Iowa took control of the first 20 minutes of the match. Iowa shot 17-of-26 from the free throw line and created 10 turnovers, turning them into 16 points. Iowa built and maintained a lead that grew as high as 30 points throughout the game.
Junior Alvaro Folgueiras stood out, leading the Hawkeyes in the second half, shooting 3-of-3 from the field and finishing with a season-high 16 points in the game. Senior Bennett Stirtz contributed 15 points and nine assists. This is Stirtz’s third game with 6+ assists, the junior is also the only Hawkeye to reach double digits in every game.
Iowa will host Chicago State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. CST.
