In the first round of NCAA play for Iowa women’s soccer, the Hawkeyes defeated the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 1-0 on Friday evening at the University of Iowa Soccer Complex.
Iowa forward Kenzie Roling put up the first and only point of the game after 3 minutes, defender Lexy Griffin was credited with the assist. Goalkeeper Fernanda Mayrink had one save in the first half, then added another one in the 49th minute when SDSU was awarded a penalty kick.
The Hawkeyes will play on Nov. 20 in the next round against fourth-seeded LSU.
