The Iowa City Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in the investigation of an assault that occurred Monday evening in the West High School parking lot.

The victim, a high school-aged female, reported that a dark-skinned male in jeans and a dark-colored hoodie approached her from behind and assaulted her at 6:55 pm, according to a Tuesday press release.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Gabe Cook at [email protected] or call the department. Police are also requesting anyone in the area with security cameras to review their footage.

Iowa City Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information in this case, and tips can be submitted anonymously without the informant revealing the identity.
