Iowa rowing wins three races at Ohio State

Iowa competed in Columbus Saturday against Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon State, and Ohio State.

The No. 15 Iowa rowing team competed in its second competition of the season in Columbus, Ohio, Saturday.

No. 6 Ohio State, No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Indiana, Michigan State, Oregon State, were the other participants in the competition.

Iowa secured three wins throughout the day. The first win came in the 2N8, which saw the Hawkeyes edge out Michigan State with a time of 8:12.25. The second win came in the 1N8, where the Hawkeyes recorded a time of 7:42.6 and finished nearly twenty seconds ahead of Indiana.

The team’s lone varsity win of the day came in the 2V4. Iowa finished with a time of 8:33.3, which was enough to beat Indiana’s boat by around fifteen seconds.

Ohio State and Michigan led the way throughout the regatta, with Michigan winning twelve races and Ohio State following behind with eight victories.

This weekend marked the second regatta of 2021 for the team after it opened the season against SMU in Merritt Island, Florida, earlier in March.

The Hawkeyes will return to action in three weeks, when they compete in the Big Ten Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 17.
