Iowa will be without linebacker Kristian Welch, tight end Nate Wieting, and offensive lineman Justin Britt for its matchup against Northwestern on Saturday.

Welch missed last week’s game against Purdue after going down with an injury against Penn State on Oct. 12. Redshirt freshman Dillon Doyle started against the Boilermakers and will get the start again as he continues to share the field with true freshman Jack Campbell.

With Wieting’s surprise absence, Shaun Beyer will be counted on to step up. He has hauled in four passes for 57 yards on the season.

Britt, a true freshman, entered the game as the backup to sophomore Mark Kallenberger at right guard. The injury hurts an offensive-line unit that was riddled with injuries early in the season.

To ease those struggles, though, Kyler Schott could be making a return after the bye week, according to Iowa Radio.
