Shots fired by Iowa City police during early morning burglary investigation

Iowa City police officers fired shots while responding to a burglary alarm at a business at 538 Olympic Court at approximately 2:27 a.m. on May 9, according to a release from the police.

According to the release, two officers discharged their firearms, injuring and hospitalizing one person. No officers were harmed.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident. The statement said no further information will be released until the involved officers have been interviewed.
