Cedar Rapids man arrested in connection with multiple sexual assaults

The University of Iowa Police Department and the Iowa City Police Department have arrested a man in connection with multiple sexual assaults in the Iowa City area.

This arrest is a result of a joint investigation between the two departments.

In an email to UI students, the Department of Public Safety said Cedar Rapids resident Carlos (A.K.A “Karlos”) Allen Hivento, 32, was arrested Jan. 8 on two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of invasion of privacy. The latter charge stems from an alleged incident reported on Nov. 18, 2018, which is still being investigated.
