Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of possessing a small amount of methamphetamine and 113 grams of marijuana.

Matthew Ellyson, 35, was charged Dec. 5 with driving while barred, possession of methamphetamine, controlled-substance violation, and failure to affix a drug stamp.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ellyson was involved in a car accident in Coralville and subsequently fled the scene. Officers were able to locate his address in North Liberty. Ellyson was barred from driving due to a previous OWI arrest.

While taking Ellyson into custody, the affidavit said, officers found a small bag of meth and a small bag of marijuana in Ellyson’s pockets. Officers then initiated a probable cause search of Ellyson’s vehicle and found 113 grams of marijuana underneath the driver’s seat.

Failure to affix drug stamp is a Class-D felony.
