Iowa swimming and diving has concluded its two-day triangular meet against Michigan and Denver.

The Hawkeye men had success in the sprints and relays but lost to No. 6 Michigan, 232-131. The men defeated Denver, 256-95, for their third win this season.

The Iowa women did not swim away with a team victory this weekend, falling to No. 3 Michigan, 255-97 and Denver, 181.50-171.50. The women had a chance to defeat Denver with a victory in the final event but fell short to Michigan in the 400-free relay.

On Nov. 2, the Hawkeye diving team put on a clinic in sweeping all four events. Sophomore Jayah Mathews won the 3-meter springboard (348.30) and the 1-meter (306.40). On the men’s side, senior Will Brenner finished first in the 1-meter (348.55), and sophomore Anton Hoherz won the 3-meter competition (391.40).

Hoherz also had success on Nov. 3, when he grabbed a victory on the platform with a season-best score of 365.35.

Many Hawkeyes swam their season-bests at the meet, but it was hard for them to gain first-place finishes against a powerhouse such as Michigan and its impressive times.

Iowa took first in the last event on Nov. 2 with the men knocking out a victory in the 400-free relay. The quartet of Steve Fiolic, Will Scott, Jack Smith, and Joe Myhre finished with a season-best time, 2:57.43.

Myhre was the only Hawkeye to finish first in an individual swimming event. On Nov. 3, he won the 100 free (44.23). Myhre was also a part of the 200-free relay that closed out the Nov. 3 action with a first-place time of 1:20.30.

The Hawkeyes will send five men and two women to compete in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Nov. 10-11.
