For the first time in the history of the John Mackey Tight End of the Week award, two tight ends from the same school have shared the award.

Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson earned the honor following their performances in Iowa’s 42-16 rout of Indiana Oct. 13, the John Mackey Award announced Wednesday.

The duo both surpassed 100 yards against the Hoosiers – Fant caught 4 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown, while Hockenson posted 107 yards and 2 scores on 4 receptions.

Fant and Hockenson are the first two Hawkeyes to have over 100 yards receiving in the same game since Keenan Davis and Marvin McNutt accomplished the feat against Pittsburgh in 2011.

Hockenson has recorded two 100-yard receiving games of the year with his performance against the Hoosiers and 1 125-yard game against Wisconsin Sept. 22.

Fant now leads the Hawkeyes with 23 receptions and 6 touchdowns, and Hockenson ranks first with 394 receiving yards.

The Hawkeyes have had a rich history with the Mackey Award. Dallas Clark won the award in 2002, while Tony Moeaki and Allen Reisner were semifinalists in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

Hockenson and Fant have another crack at a big weekend on Saturday, as No. 19 Iowa takes on Maryland at 11 a.m.
