A man was reported to be masturbating in a car and exposing himself to young children on Monday, according to a press release from the City of Iowa City.

The suspect, described as a white male, was seen near Sheridan Street and 7th Avenue in a rusty, red car, the release said. The children promptly ran away and were not physically hurt.

The Iowa City Police Department has assigned an investigator to the case and is currently seeking out more information from nearby surveillance footage and witnesses. They are urging the public to call 319-356-5276 with any details.

A reward of $1,000 is also offered by Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers in return for more useful information about the suspect and crime. The organization can be reached at 319-TIPS-8477.
