Park Road Bridge to open Saturday

The new Park Road Bridge will be open to cars and pedestrians this Saturday at 6 a.m. according to a press release by the City of Iowa City.

Two westbound lane and one eastbound lane on the bridge will be accessible. Separate turn lanes on Dubuque Street leading to the bridge will not be available. The release advises drivers to consider using alternate routes to avoid traffic. Bus routes across the Park Road Bridge will begin running Saturday as well.

Only the north side of the bridge will be accessible for pedestrians. Pedestrians and bicyclists traveling on Dubuque Street will need to access the new sidewalk between Ronalds and Brown streets. The release said pedestrians and bicyclists should continue down this sidewalk until they reach Mayflower Residence Hall, and they should cross over the Iowa River Trail to continue north.

Similar to the last two football seasons, Dubuque Street will temporarily convert to a one-way road to accommodate traffic leaving Iowa City after Saturday’s football game, which kicks off at 2:40 p.m.
