State and federal investigators have joined the search for missing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and FBI are now involved in looking for the 20-year-old sophomore.
DCI joined the investigation on July 20, and the FBI followed on July 23.
Mitch Mortvedt, the DCI assistant director of field operations, said authorities have not had any developments of significance at this point, but they are following up on leads in an email to The Daily Iowan.
“The process is to continue to follow up on all leads that are brought in to us or developed,” he said. “We are continuing to look anywhere that could be a possibility.”
Tibbetts went missing on July 18 while going for a run in the Brooklyn, Iowa, area. Crews searched the Brooklyn area all weekend but found no clues to her whereabouts. Family and friends said Tibbetts isn’t the type of person who would disappear on her own.
If people have any information about Tibbetts or her disappearance, they should contact the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office, 641-623-5679.
