It’s time to add another award to Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell’s growing list of accomplishments this season.
Jewell earned the Jack Lambert Award on Monday, an award given to the best linebacker in the nation.
The senior linebacker has 125 tackles this season and stands as only the third Hawkeye in program history to notch three 115-tackle seasons. His 426 career tackles rank fifth all-time at Iowa (9 tackles away from fourth place).
Jewell earned a plethora of weekly awards this season, ranging from the Lott IMPACT Trophy National Player for the Week to the Bronko Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week.
The Decorah native was named a midseason first team All-American by five different media organizations – the Associated Press, ESPN, CBS Sports, Sporting News, and The All-American.
In Iowa’s final regular-season game against Nebraska on Nov. 24, Jewell recorded 8 tackles, including a team-best 5 solo stops, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 interception, and 3 pass breakups.
