Authorities have received an arrest warrant for a Cedar Rapids person on a forgery charge.
Mulijah Berryman, 18, is accused of forgery and second-degree theft on Sept. 20.
According to the affidavit, Berryman cashed three counterfeit checks totaling $2,984.90. These three checks were cashed at two different banks within an hour, the affidavit said, and Berryman presented identification when cashing the checks.
Security video at MidwestOne Bank in Coralville confirmed Berryman’s identity, the affidavit said.
Berryman, the affidavit said, is one of numerous co-defendants who cashed similar fake checks.
Forgery and second-degree theft are Class-D felonies.
