The Iowa men’s and women’s diving teams have completed two days at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, in which they are competing for berths into the NCAA Championships to be held March 24-27.
On the first day of competition, the men competed in the 3-meter springboard competition and the women competed in the 1-meter.
Junior Brandis Heffner was the top Hawkeye finisher on the men’s side, qualifying for the finals by finishing 13th with a score of 342.75. He finished the night placing 14th in finals with a score of 323.65.
Seniors Addison Boschult, Andrew Hull, sophomore Evan Hull, and freshman Will Brenner also competed in the 3-meter competition for the men.
Boschult was the next-best Hawkeye, finishing preliminaries in 19th place with a score of 309.90.
Four Hawkeye women competed in the 1-meter springboard.
Junior Calli Head was Iowa’s top diver, finishing with a score of 234.60, good enough for 35th place.
The second day of competition was Tuesday, with the 1-meter men’s and 3-meter women’s events.
Brenner was the Iowa men’s top performer off the 1-meter, finishing in ninth place with a score of 334.05.
Boschult and Heffner both squeezed into the top 18 as well. Boschult, with a score of 298.35, finished 16th, and Heffner was right behind in 17th place with 294.00 points.
Andrew Hull finished in 23rd, and Evan Hull placed 28th.
The Iowa women had two divers competing in the 3-meter, both failing to reach the final.
Junior Lydia Lehnert placed 28th for the Hawkeyes with 263.80 points, and sophomore Morgan Rafferty finished 34th with a score of 254.05.
