The Iowa softball team will travel to Rosemont, Illinois, to compete in the Total Control Sports Invitational.
The team previously competed in their season opening series, the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tournament. Iowa finished with a 2-3 record in the competition.
Its struggles from its season opening series seemed to be a lack of execution offensively.
“We’ve got to execute when asked to execute, Iowa head coach Marla Looper said in a release. “To do that, we have to buy in.”
Iowa’s team ERA — 2.25 is now the lowest ERA in the Big Ten. The Hawks also only allowed 23 hits in their opening weekend, which were the fewest in the conference. In addition to that, Iowa also allowed the fewest runs in the Big Ten — 11.
Execution is probably the team’s goal this upcoming weekend, to say the least. The Hawkeyes will face IUPI, UIC, Lipscomb, Loyola-Chicago, and Indiana State.
