The Hamburg Inn No. 2, 214 N. Linn St. has been sold; this will mark the first time the historic diner has been owned by someone outside the Panther family.
Hamburg Inn is a regular stop for various politicians during the Iowa caucuses. Some of the major political appearances include Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Dennis Kucinich, Pat Buchanan, and then-Sen. Barack Obama.
The diner also conducts a coffee-bean caucus, in which guests are given coffee beans to put in the jar of the candidate they plan on supporting.
It was also featured in a 2005 episode of the political drama “The West Wing.”
A manager confirmed the sale on Wednesday but said he couldn’t comment on who the new owners are.
