Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz says running back Mike Malloy has left the Hawkeye football program. Ferentz announced Wednesday that Malloy, a redshirt freshman, left the team but is still enrolled at the University of Iowa.

A native of Sioux City, the former All-State running back walked on in 2012 and saw no playing time with the Hawkeyes in 2013.

He ran a 4.41 40-yard dash and was the fourth-ranked running back in the state of Iowa in the Class of 2012, according to rivals.com
