The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Tuesday that three Iowa field-hockey players were named to the West Region All-American squad. Natalie Cafone and Dani Hemeon were named to the first team, and Steph Norlander was named to the second team.
Cafone, a sophomore, finished the 2013 campaign with 52 points, including 22 goals. Cafone led the Hawkeyes in both categories and is ranked first in the NCAA with 2.48 points per game.
Hemeon recorded 30 points and 13 goals. Along with Cafone, the junior was named to the first team All-Big Ten squad in addition to the All-Big Ten Tournament team.
Norlander finished with 9 goals and 19 points. The forward from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was also named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
